BTCTap.hol.es - First month after relaunch

Hi all,

My faucet BTCTap was relaunched almost four weeks ago and I wanted to share some stats with you and the further steps.

For you who are new here, I launched a out of the box faucet quite some time ago, but the fun did not last for a long time. I was ripped by bots abusing it and I've lost my first deposited amount I've put on FaucetBox.

So I shut the faucet down but I did not want to give up, so I found another script which I was able to have more control about it. I have then heavily modified it and added some security to it, significant change to my previous script was a threshold I introduced. Not high only 300 satoshis, for now (more on the threshold later in this post.

Summary after 19 days running my new faucet
I think most important part is, I'm not getting ripped anymore. I see a steady and increasing traffic and everything seems to work for me as expected.
Here is a screen from Google Analytics on the traffic:
The peak at the very left side, is still from the old faucet when I got hit by the bots. Re-launch was on the 8th May. Since then you can see an upwards trend. It's not much, but I rather start slow and steady instead of going through the roof not being able to cope with the amount of traffic.

As most of the script is custom made, I've modified my admin panel to see important data. In the admin panel I'm now able to:

• See total number of users, claims, balances etc.
• See users who have reached the minimum cashout
• Claims and cashout per day in a table and a graph
• Abililty the check every single user how often they've claimed

Also here you can see the very slow start paying under 1k Satoshi a day to up to 3k a day. The average claim per day is around 1200 Satoshi per day.

You can see the average is around 600 Satoshi a day. Which is also perfectly fine for me what I receive back from my Ads shown on the page.

Speaking of the ads, this is still WIP (Work in Progress) to optimize and to maximize the revenues I'm getting. I'm trying out different kind of services and will pick the best.

For now I'm using:

• A-ads
• Coinmedia
• Bitmedia 

My target is to get Mellowads, but for that my traffic and Alexa rank need to increase, but I'm confident it will come with the time.

Now during last weeks I've added couple of addons to my faucet to spicy it a bit and differentiate it from the others.
The first one I did, I've made a very simple coin flip game, where you can bet your gained Satoshis. If you win, you'll get 197% of your bet back, giving a house edge of only 3%.

Second one launched couple of days ago, is a rotator. For now it's a very simple one with on 20+ faucets, but I'm planning to expand it.

Meanwhile I've received another (fourth) payment from a-ads and I'm already half way through for the next one. In summary my faucet is making plus, it's not making me rich, but I am able to cover it's daily costs by the ads shown on my side.

BTCTap.hol.es - Faucet update

Couple of weeks ago I've posted that I'm trying myself within the faucet world.
Well at the very beginning it was looking very nice, traffic was flowing through my faucet and people were gaining satoshis. The fun lasted for couple of days.

Then I got hit badly by the bots and cheaters. All my money I've loaded to the faucet was gone within one night.

Well I was kind of expecting it, but I was surprised how fast it went. I was using a free script from Faucetbox, which is actually quite good for people who want to get into the world of hosting their own faucet. The big but is, it has 0 security. Yes you can play around banning bitcoind addresses and IPs, but it does not help. Scammers will find their way to get your money. As the script is very popular, on one hand you get lot of traffic, as people know how to use it. On the other hand there are tons of bots on the internet to misuse your faucet.

Well I didn't give up, shut the site down for a while and took a better look at it. Maybe for the first attempt I was bit in a rush. I didn't want to make the same mistake again.

I found a script written in PHP on the net and was able to learn it much better than the first one. So I started to modify it with the past mistakes in my mind. The mistakes I did with my first attempt:

• Did not understand the code of the script to modify it
• Had little to none security measures
• Was not in control of the payments

Couple of days ago, I've re-launched my faucet. With much better design, as I actually put some work into it and also looking at some other high paying long lasting faucets. I've also added a login screen and I was able to modify my admin panel so have full control of the things going on. The faucet has the following features:

• Login page
• Payment treshold
• Manual verification
• Ability to ban bitcoin addresses
• Investigation if the claims are valid

In terms of traffic, I'm not there yet where I was with my old faucet. As many of the listings marked it as not paying. I personally think, with the time this will change. I think it's better know to have a slower start so I can still adapt if I see any glitches.

Now to the good things. Even with the old faucet I was able to find a way to monetize the faucet. I'm using advertiser called a-ads also know as Anonymous ads. I'm quite happy with the earnings, for now it's more than I'm giving out which is a plus. I've already been paid twice within the short time. Here is the proof of it.

 
20'000 satoshis in two weeks time is not bad, isn't it?

Again as my other project, I have plans to expand further.

• Get a proper domain name
• Get Google Adsense to approve my site
• Do direct payments and not via Faucetbox
• Increase the satoshis per claim
• Improve security

The top two things go together. I first need to get a own domain name and once that is sorted out I'm heading for Google's approval. Google is the number 1 CPM paying network on the internet, so that is a must in order to survive and make my faucet attractive, which is the fourth point on my list. Third thing is to get rid of Faucetbox as a payment processor as they are claiming 2.5% of each deposit I'm doing for them to fill my faucets wallet. On the other hand I need to increase the threshold then, as somewhere I've read the minimum amount of bitcoins to be sent is bit more than 5k.

CLDMine.com - May update

Hello everyone,

Next update on one of my favorite programs to claim free Bitcoin.

I'm happy to say, I've reached another CLD level with is 7 now.

I'm currently earning approx. $0.045 a day, which equals to 0.066 CLD a day.

CLDMine added a very nice feature to automatically exchange a certain percentage of your minings to CLD, which I've set to 100% for now. As I still want to gain more CLD as quickly as I can.

As written before, my goal is to gain as much CLDs it's needed to be able to cashout BTCs on a weekly basis. Currently I'm earning 0.000102 BTCs a day. With the given minimum cashout of 0.0035 BTC, it still takes me ca. 34 days to get there. Therefore I want to increase my mining speed until I bring that value down.
